Weekly Recap!

27 May

Happy Memorial Day!!!!

This week was an okay week.  I did get up early to do some morning runs, which really worked out great, and I didn’t have a hard time getting up!  However the weekend morning running didn’t really happen.  I was kind of lazy and the weather wasn’t all that great.  Saturday was raining all day…YUCKO!  Sunday there was no rain but it was really windy.  Today, Monday was great weather but I needed to get up early to run.  No big deal, I had everything ready and was planning on getting up at 5:15 to run somewhere around 10 miles.  I woke up and looked at the weather to figure out what I was going to wear on my top half and it showed the temp was 37 degrees and I said NOPE, I am not running when it was 37 degrees out, not on May 27th.  So I rolled over.  I did check the temp two or three more times but it just wasn’t warming up fast enough. So I never did get up to run early before Dave left to go to his second parade of the weekend.  After I didn’t get up I planned on running at my parents house so they could watch the kids but by the time I got there and everything I only had about ½ an hour to get a run in so it turned out to be short.  I know that I will be okay for the race on Sunday but I was hoping to get in another long run.

So here are my weekly runs and mileage:
(Monday and Tuesday were included in the last weekly update!)
Thursday 5.06
Friday: Rest
Saturday: Rain…lots of Rain!!!
Sunday: 5.47
Monday: 3.13

Total for the week: 13.66
Total for the year: 342.33

We had a great long weekend:

Saturday was a great birthday celebration for Stephanie, my sister-in-law, Sunday was fun at home (mostly cleaning, which really needed to be done) while Dave did the parade with his band, and Monday was a great Memorial Day party, while Dave once again did another parade with his band after which he played 9 holes of golf, which were well deserved after having to work two out of the three days.

Here are some pictures:  Very few I know, I need to get better at taking pictures!!!

A Future Runner

22 May

I picked up the boys from school yesterday and we already had a plan of what we were going to do…practice running.  I signed the boys up for a kids race that goes along with my next half marathon.  Jeremy did as me how far he was going to run at the race.  Before I could get my answer out he said, “Please don’t tell me a marathon.”  I told him no not a marathon.  I also told him that I signed up for a marathon and he asked my why.  I said, “I don’t know, I thought it would be fun!”  I don’t think many people would say marathon and fun go together, but I guess I do!  So after school the boys and I planned that they would run around the block while I pushed Ashley in the stroller, which was fine by me.  I had already done my 5 mile run in the morning.  BY the way, Ian told me that 5 miles wasn’t a long way so on the way to school I clocked out five miles…he changed his mind and thought that 5 miles was a long way to go!

But before we headed out Jeremy came to me and said, “Mom, can you put this on my shirt?”  Sure enough he had made a bib that we wanted to wear to practice his running.  He was so proud, was too!  He even made holes to put the safety pins in.  Here he is before we headed out.  He looks like a future runner to me, what do you think?

Okay: So I haven’t been running to consistently but I think that I needed to back it off a little bit.  This weekend I will be running a long run to get ready for the Amica Iron Horse Half Marathon, 10K & 5K on June 2nd!  I will be running the half, which will be half number 8!  I am also starting to run in the morning again…reasoning marathon training begins in just a couple of weeks and in order to get my training in I am going to need to run in the morning.  Which really is fine for a couple of reasons.  One is that it is going to be hot so early morning running will help with that, plus I won’t have to get up TOO early because summer vacation starts in about 5 weeks.  Another reason I want to start this morning running again is to make sure that once school starts in the fall my running in the morning with be a habit and I won’t be stressed out when school starts.

The Providence Half Marathon was a great race!  I would totally do it again.  The course had lots to look at.  It was a great run for me too.  I got another PR of 2:06:18!  Super happy with that.  To top off the race the family had a great weekend too!  We stayed over night in a SUPER nice hotel.  It was very fancy.  It was nice to have everybody together.  We just basically hung out and had fun.  There is nothing better than that!

Here some of the pictures from the weekend:

After this weekend I have three weeks until my next half on June 2nd!

I have signed up for a FULL MARATHON!!!!  I am going to be running the UnitedHealthcare Marathon  in Newport RI in October.  This is part of UnitedHealthcare Triple Crown.  I am excited for this new challenge.  I am currently trying to figure out what training plan I am going to follow.  I have found a couple but I want to really make sure that the plan is going to work for me.

Okay so the ab challenge went down the drain…I just couldn’t keep up with it.  However I did bring home a big exercise ball so I am hoping that I can start using that to help with doing some abs.

It has been busy around the Syzdek house.  The spring always seems to get so busy. Maybe it is because we are outside all the time.  Here are some pictures to let you know what we have been up to:

Playing Outside, Disney, Cheshire Half, and More outside play!
